Posttraumatic disorder is a disorder caused by a traumatic event or series of
traumatic events. This can be caused by an event in the past like abuse,
natural disasters, or serious accidents. Most people who have been in a
traumatic event experience symptoms days after the incident, however people
can only be diagnosed with ptsd after a month from the event. Some of the
symptoms of PTSD include intrusive actions and thoughts, avoiding the
traumatic event, and changes in mood. Some people with PTSD also have
dissociation symptoms. If you have PTSD and are seeking help, talk to a
psychiatrist or a mental health professional, or if you need serious help
immediately call the national crisis hotline in the resources section of our
website.
